We’re in the top 10, as well as the top 12!

Congrats to Elaine Hsiao our super-productive graduate student who passed her exam to get her PhD at the end of 2012. Her paper, “Modeling an autism risk factor in mice leads to permanent immune dysregulation”, was just named one of the top 10 autism research advances in 2012 by the Autism Speaks foundation. Their full list (here) is quite diverse and interesting.

Also congrats to our senior researcher Ben Deverman. His paper, “Exogenous leukemia inhibitory factor stimulates oligodendocyte precursor cell proliferation and enhances remyelination”, was named one of the top 12 most widely read and shared articles from Caltech.edu, our institution’s web site. Ben joins some rather illustrious company, including the successful landing of the Mars explorer Opportunity, and the engineering of a solar powered toilet!

  1. All the best for you and your team, that produced some of the best work in ASD done since that guy called Kanner.

Hoping that 2013 will continue the excellence in science and that Santa with a big bag of research grants drops in soon… I’ll see if I can rattle up a bottle of scotch for New Year.
