Amazing story in the Boston Globe about what can happen if a child with PANDAS is put into the wrong hospital – one that does not agree with the PANDAS diagnosis. PANDAS is short for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal infections (but is now officially labeled PANS to get rid of the strict association with strep because other infections can do the same thing). Our friend Beth Maloney (author of Saving Sammy) is the attorney who is working on behalf of the parents to try and free the child. I’ve written about her book here before. I won’t get into the issues here, as the Globe story speaks very well for itself.
